A self-taught Japanese architect who works extensively with concrete, wood, stone, and water, successfully bringing vernacular architecture to modernity. His works transcend the visible realm, touching those who come in contact with his work on the spiritual level. Ando works with geometric shapes: squares, triangles, and circles, in unpredictable angles and often making use of different volumes and of light.
