Carlo Raúl Villanueva (England 1900-1975)

Villanueva was born  to a Venezuelan diplomat father and a French mother in Surrey, England. He went on to study in Paris, where he graduated with a degree in Architecture from the École de Beaux-Arts and when he was 28 years old, he moved definitively to Caracas. Villanueva worked in Venezuela for over four decades and through his concepts, it is possible to understand the different movements of the architecture of the XX century, from the classical to the Spanish influence, and art deco to modern and later contemporary. Villanueva was responsible for the design on the Central University of Venezuela, where different edifices harbor over 135 cataloged works from artists the world over.
